Insurance companies are normally quite happy to see, AS AN ABSOLUTE MINIMUM, a decent quality 5 lever mortice lock fitted to any main external door, as supplied in our normal package. You should, however, check you insurance policy. Certain insurance companies stipulate, as a must, the installation of a kite marked British Standard lock. If this is the case then our Era Pro-fit lock fits the bill and can be supplied at £7 extra to the package price. All of our mortice locks have a reversible latch bolt.

We also supply F.O.C. a brass door chain for extra security but for very secure situations you may wish to fit a Yale or Era nightlatch (£19.95/£29.95) or a 2 bolt c/w key security pack (£5.95) which the police like to see fitted. For solid doors or those with a little glass at the top a door viewer would be beneficial.

Stable doors - These do not normally require a letterplate so we substitute this with a heavy 6" brass bolt to secure the two halves together - for no extra cost.

French pairs - (External) These doors require a rebated mortice lock fitting (5 lever) plus at least two brass bolts or security rack bolts. For security purposes the doors should open INWARDS. Open-out doors are more vunerable to forced entry and should have hinge bolts fitted at least.

Most internal doors do not need locking but if a mortice lock is required a standard 3 lever would be sufficient. Price c/w lock handles would be £5 extra on the package price.

Bathrooms/toilets - Either privacy sets can be used - or a better more reliable alternative - a security thumbturn bolt which can be operated (unlocked) from both sides which conforms with current building regulations.

Internal French partition doors - For openings between 4'6" and 5'6" virtually any design we stock can be used. All we have to do is have the doors rebated (allow 3 days) as a pair at a cost of £20 in total. A rebated mortice latch would also be required (+£7) and a couple of brass bolts to keep one door in place. (+£3 for standard bolts or £2.95 each for flush bolts) Two security rack bolts are also worth considering.
